Everspin Technologies announced that it has signed a strategic manufacturing agreement with Microchip Technology to expand its MRAM production capacity and strengthen long-term supply.
Everspin entered into a 10-year agreement (that can be extended in 2-year increments) to onshore US manufacturing capacity for MRAM and Tunnel Magnetoresistive (TMR) sensor products.
As part of that agreement, Microchip will establish a copy exact (plus) MRAM line at its Oregon Fab, to manufacture the MRAM (and TMR sensor) products currently produced at Everspin's own line in Chandler, AZ, US.
Everspin says that its customers are look for both long-term supply stability and higher-density, more capable solutions, and this new agreement with Microchip Technology will support these customers with increased scale to support demand.
