Micron starts mass production of 45nm 1Gb PCM chips

Micron announced that it is now mas-producing 45-nanometer Phase Change Memory (PCM) for mobile devices, featuring 1-gigabit (Gb) PCM plus 512-megabit (Mb) LPDDR2 in a multichip package. This is the first time that PCM memory is available in volume production.

The 45nm PCM is targeted for feature phones, with a future roadmap aimed at addressing smartphones and media tablets.

Nanounity to distribute's MSI's QSW-Gen3 STT-MRAM/HDD Quasi-Static Wafer tester

Nanounity says it has signed a Sales & Marketing agreement with Mountain Scientifics (MSI). Nanounity will promote the MSI QSW-Gen3 Quasi-Static Wafer tester product and associated accessories such as a patented magnet & probe card arrangement with In-Plane and Perpendicular Fields for the testing and characterization of STT-RAM devices and HDD recording heads.

The QSW-Gen3 (initially released in 1999) is the first and only commercially available tester for STT-RAM and HDD production.

Aeroflex launches 16MBit and 64MBit MRAM chips, based on Everspin's technology

Aeroflex launched three MRAM chips for the aerospace and defense markets: the UT8MR2M8 (16Mbit, 40-pin flatpack) and the UT8MR8M8 (64Mbit, 64-pin flatpack). The 64Mbit chip isactually the world's highest density MRAM chip (Everspin's highest one is only 16Mbit in size).

Aeroflex is using licensed MRAM technolgoy from Everspin, and it took them two years to modify Everspin's design so it fits their target markets.
